 TAJ MAHAL

The Taj Mahalhttps://www.wikipedia.org is undoubtedly the crown jewel of Agra. This white marble mausoleum was built by the

Mughal emperor shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, MUMTAZ mahal. The beauty of the Taj

lies  in its symmetry, intricate carvings, and the way it changes color depending on the time of day.

Visiting at sunrise or sunset will leave you mesmerized by its glowing aura. The gardens surrounding

the monument add to its serene charm, making it a must-visit for every traveler.

 FATEHPUR SIKRI –

    The Mughal emperor Akbar built FATEHPUR SIKRI  about 40 km from Agra and moved hid capital

    there. It was the capital of Mughal Empire from 1573 to 1588. Some important places in

BULAND DARWAZA was built in 1572 by Mughal emperor Akbar to commemorate his victory over     Gujrat. It is the main entrance to the place of FATEHPUR SIKRI.

BULAND DARWAZA is the highest gateway in the world. It is 54 m high from the ground.                             It was declared as the World Heritage Site of UNESCO.

MEHTAB BAGH –

For a unique view of the Taj mahal, visit MEHTAB BAGH, a garden located on the opposite bank of the Yamuna River. This garden was designed to again perfectly with the Taj, offering an unobstructed view of the monument, especially at sunset. the calm atmosphere and the beautiful reflection of the Taj in the river make MEHTAB BAGH a photographer’s paradise.

 AKBAR’S TOMB –

located in SIKANDRA, about 10 km from Agra, Akbar’s Tomb is the resting place of the great Mughal emperor Akbar. The tomb is set in a large, beautifully landscaped garden with deer and peacocks roaming around. The structure itself is a blend of red sandstone and marble, showcasing the emperor’s love for art and architecture. The detailed carvings and designs make it a significant monument to visit.

JAMA MASJID –

JAMA MASJID, located in the heart of Agra, is one of the largest mosques in India. Built by shah Jahan in honor of his daughter JAHANARA BEGUM, the mosque is known for his simple yet majestic architecture. The vast courtyard minarets add to the grandeur of the structure. It’s a peaceful place to visit and soak in the spirituality.

 CHINI KA RAUZA –

CHINI KA RAUZA is a lesser- known but equally fascinating monument in Agra. It is the tomb of ALLAMA AFZAL KHAN MULLAH, a scholar and poet during the reign of Shah Jahan. What makes this tomb unique is the use of glazed tiles, known as “CHINI,” which gives the structure its name. The colorful tiles and Persian-influenced design make CHINI ka RAUZA a hidden gem worth exploring.

  AGRA FORT –

Just a few km away from the Taj Mahal lies Agra fort, a UNESCO world heritage site. This red sandstone fort served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors until the capital was shifted to Delhi. Agra fort is not just a military structure; it houses beautiful palaces, mosques, and gardens. The Diwan-i-AM (Hall of public Audience), Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of private Audience), and the Jahangir Mahal are some of the architecture highlights here. From the fort, you can also get a distant view of the Taj Mahal.
